His paternal grandfather was Ezekiel ASHCRAFT and his paternal grandmother is Hester OATLEY; his maternal grandparents are Walter DYE and Agnes FORD. He had five brothers and six sisters, named James (John) M., Walter, William M., George, J. Buchannon, Mary, Charlotte, Agnes, Martha, Mary and Charlotte.
