John De was born about 1287 in of, Watton, Norfolk, England.1 John De's father was William De Ros and his mother was Maude Matilde De Vaux. His paternal grandparents were Robert De Ros IV Baron Ros and Isabel de Albini; his maternal grandparents were John De Vaux and Sibel De Longchamps. He had two brothers and five sisters, named William, Thomas De, Agnes De, Mary De, Margaret De, Alice De and Joan De. He was the third oldest of the eight children.
