William was born in 1290 in Of, Helmsley, Yorkshire, England and his baptism took place in Also Of Castle, Wark, Northumberland, England.1   William's father was William De Ros and his mother was Maude Matilde De Vaux.  His paternal grandparents were Robert De Ros IV Baron Ros and Isabel de Albini; his maternal grandparents were John De Vaux and Sibel De Longchamps. He had two brothers and five sisters, named John De, Thomas De, Agnes De, Mary De, Margaret De, Alice De and Joan De.  He was the fourth oldest of the eight children.  He died in Priory, Kirkham, Yorkshire, England.  He was buried in ,Kirkham, Yorkshire, England.1 1 


William's family with Margery De Badlesmere

‌William and Margery were married in a religious ceremony before November 1316 in Of, Castle Wark, Northumberland, England.1   They had a son and two daughters, named Thomas, Elizabeth and Maud.
