Phoebe was born in 1814 in Charlotteville, Ontario, Canada.1 Phoebe's father was Andrew McClish McCleish and her mother was Phoebe Amy Montross. Her maternal grandparents were Peter Montross and Leah Mabee Mabie. She had a brother and ten sisters, named Andrew McClish, Fanny McClish, Mary McClish, Martha Maria McClish, Eleanor McClish, Margaret McClish, Christina, Amy McClish, Rebecca Jane McClish, Ann Maria McClish and Leah McClish. She was the fourth youngest of the twelve children. She died at the age of 42 on April 30th, 1856 in Clinton, Rock, Wisconsin, USA.
