Count of Orlamunde Hermann was born about 1128 in Of, Orlamunde, Sachsen-Altenburg, Thuringia.¹ Count of Orlamunde Hermann's father was Duke of Saxony Albrecht I and his mother was Sofie Mrs Brandenburg. His paternal grandparents were Otto (Askanier) Count of Ballenstedt and Eilika Princess of Saxony. He was the third oldest of the twelve children. He died on October 19th, 1176.¹
