Count of Werben was born about 1137 in of, Dresden, Dresden, Saxony.1 Count of Werben's father was Duke of Saxony Albrecht I and his mother was Sofie Mrs Brandenburg. His paternal grandparents were Otto (Askanier) Count of Ballenstedt and Eilika Princess of Saxony. He had six brothers and five sisters, named Otto I Margrave of, Count of Orlamunde Hermann, Prince of Saxony, Prince of Saxony, Count of Ballenstedt, Bernhard III Duke of, Christine Princess of, Gertrud (Sibylle) Princess of, Princess of Saxony, Gertrud and Princess of Saxony. He was the fourth youngest of the twelve children. He died after September 5th, 1183.1 General Notes
