Jacob Butler's father was Thomas Hicks and his mother was Mary Butler. His maternal grandparents were Richard Butler and Elizabeth Biglow. He had a brother named Thomas. He had four half-brothers and four half-sisters, named John, Thomas, John, Jacob, Mary, Phebe, Sarah and Elizabeth.General Notes

In the name of God, Amen. I, JACOB HICKS, of Rockaway, in the town ofHempstead, in Queens County, being now in perfect health. I leave tomy wife Hannah L100, and my riding chair and horse that commonly drawsthe same, and all the goods she brought with her when married, Also L6worth of household provisions. I leave to my two grand daughters, MaryWilliams and Elizabeth Williams, the riding chair and horse after mywife's decease, and a silver tankard, but if they die, then to my twogrand sons, Richard and Jacob Williams. I leave to my daughter Sarah,wife of Jacob Hoyt, of Duchess County, six silver spoons. To mydaughter Hannah, wife of Thomas Hallett, of Newtown, my silvertankard. To my son, Stephen Hicks, o30. "I leave to my wife my Teakettle and all my Tea tackling." All the rest of my personal estate Ileave to my daughters, Sarah Hoyt, Hannah Hallett, and to my granddaughters above named. I make my wife and my three sons, Thomas,Jacob, and John, executors. Dated June 10, 1751. Witnesses, JohnWiggens, Isaac Bloom, Benjamin Hinchman.
