the King's Thane de Tettesworth was born about 1028.1 The King's Thane de Tettesworth's father was Wolfric of Mercia and his mother was daughter of Arques. His paternal grandfather was of Mercia Godwin; his maternal grandfather was Count Of Arques William. He had three brothers named Waltheus of, Ranulphus and Ormus. Gamel, a thane of the king's, Lord of Aldithley, Talk, and Balterley, in the county of Stafford, and of Cedde and Mottram Andrews, in the county of Chester, at the time of the Domesday survey, had issue, Adam de Aldithley, whose two sons, Lidulph and Adam, were the founders of the noble families of Audley and Stanley.
