King John II/of France/
while visiting the place of his captivity.
King John II was captured in battle at Poitiers by the forces
of Edward, the Prince of Wales. He was held in gentlemanly
prison at Savoy on the Strand in London, until his death. Afer
his son, Charles thre Dauphine, and Regent of France rejected
the Treaty of London, making King Edward III of England also
King of France, he was sent to the Tower of London.
