Fulke was born about 1175 in Salo, Englnad.1 Fulke's father was Fulke Fitzwarin and his mother was Hawise Dinan. His paternal grandparents were Warine FitzWarin and Mallet Peverell; his maternal grandfather was Josce Dinan. He had a sister named Hawise. He was the younger of the two children. Fulk was an adversary of King John. Fulk took the Manor of Wantage from the Earl of Pembroke. He rented Wantage out to the Fettiplaces. Fulk was a famous outlaw. One of his escapes was centered on Windsor Forest. Fulk had to flee to France to avoid death. Several years later he was pardoned and he returned and repossessed Whittington Castle. The castle fell into decay and one tower collapsed into the moat during a severe frost in 1760. The ruins were plundered for stone to surface the roads and build houses. The castle has been under restoration since 1967.
