Josiah was born about 1610 in ,,England and his baptism took place in 1610 in Leyden, Zuid-Holland, Netherlands.1   Josiah's father was Francis Cooke and his mother was Hester Le Mahieu.  His paternal grandparents were Richard Cooke and Alice Caunton; his maternal grandparents were Jacques Jan Le Mahieu and Jeanne (Jennie) Mrs Jeanne. He had two brothers and four sisters, named John Soule, Jacob, Jane, Elizabeth, Hester and Mary.  He was the third oldest of the seven children.  He died on October 17th, 1673 in Eastham, Barnstable, Massachusetts.1

‌Josiah and Elizabeth were married in a religious ceremony on September 16th, 1635 in Plymouth, Plymouth, Massachusetts.1   They had a son and two daughters, named Josiah, Anna and Bethiah.
