Jacob was born in 1614 in Leiden, South Holland, Netherlands and his baptism took place there in 1618.1   Jacob's father was Francis Cooke and his mother was Hester Le Mahieu.  His paternal grandparents were Richard Cooke and Alice Caunton; his maternal grandparents were Jacques Jan Le Mahieu and Jeanne (Jennie) Mrs Jeanne. He had two brothers and four sisters, named John Soule, Josiah, Jane, Elizabeth, Hester and Mary.  He was the third youngest of the seven children.  He died at the age of 62 on July 7th, 1676 in Plymouth, Plymouth, Massachusetts.  He was buried in Tyler Point Cemetery, Barrington, Bristol, Rhode Island.1 1
