Jonathan Smith), Joseph Jr. (died young), Mary (m. Benjamin Smith Jr.), Esther (died in infancy), Desire (m. Samuel Smith), John (m. Ruth Lee), Jacob (died in infancy) and Martha (m. Job Smith)) and Abilene (died young, m. Thomas Gilbert III/IV?, took the oath of allegiance at Springfield 1678, is described as a wild youth, he was "presented" by a jury Sep 26, 1682 for hunting on at Qaubaug (Brookfield) on the Lord's Day. August 19, 1688, he was sent by Col. Pynchon as a soldier to Qaubaug; and Sept. 21 was sent again to help build a fort there. He removed to Brookfield in the spring of 1691, and in September was appointed constable. He took an active part in furthering settlement of the place, and his name appears on numerous petitions to the General Court. He returned with his young family to Springfield in 1696 or 1697 where he died, had 8? children, Thomas IV/V?(Capt., moved to Brookfield, Worcester Co., MA in 1691. He became a leading man in civil affairs; was a Town Clerk 1718- 1753, Captain of the Militia, Justice of the Peace and town treasurer.
