Miles was born on March 11th, 1809.1 Miles' father was John Terry and his mother was Esther Brown. His paternal grandparents were William Terry and Rachel Manson. He had eleven brothers and a sister, named Josiah, William, George F., Haden, John, Elijah, Elisha, J. Elias, Thomas, Daniel, Jasper and Esther (Easter). He had five half-brothers and four half-sisters, named John, William, Elisha, Elias, Thomas, Sally, Esther, Rachel and Elizabeth. He died in Perry County,Indiana. About 1834 John, his father, gave Miles the pruchase price to buy a 40 acre
homestead. Miles took title in his own name but after his father died Miles
and his wife Nancy deeded it to Esther. She in turn coveyed the land back to
Miles in 1847, then her name foes not appear in the records again. The land
is located about 3/4 mile the Lily Dale Church of Christ. from Perry County
deeds.
Miles and Cynthia Ann Walker were married in a religious ceremony on November 19th, 1865. They had two sons and four daughters, named Henry S., Aaron, Clara, Esther, Margarah and Mary Ann.
