William Terry 
William was born about 1724 in prob. VA. He died in 1803 in Botetourt County,Virginia.General Notes
Entered land in the Big Lick or Great Lick area in 1744, 1 yr before Augusta
became a county. Later that area was is Botetourt Co. VA, then in 1838
Botetourt was divided and Roanoke Co. was formed in the Great Lick area. The
Terry home stood on the site of the present city library in Roanake. He was
a private in the defense of the Roanoke frontier. Prob. son of Champmess
Terry whose will was proven in May 1758, Louisa Co. VA--sons Thomas, Joseph,
William, Henry and David and bro. James Terry.
‌William and Rachel were married in a religious ceremony on February 3rd, 1759 in Virginia. They had three sons and four daughters, named Jasper, John, Miles, Susannah, Marcy, Rachel and Jemima.
