6/11/1805 Botetourt Co., VA, Deed Book 8, pg 604: "On 1 Nov 1804 John Terry of the County of Anderson, State of Tennessee (formerly Knox Co.) appoints friend Thomas Brown of Botetourt Co., VA to convey to John Pershinger, right and title to land containing 300 acres on Murry Run (alias Black Run), branch of Roanoke River, and being land where on William Terry, dec'd., father of said John Terry, Legatee in estate of said father." "Terry Family Letters, Vol I" page 25 - Abe Lincoln (about same age as William Jr.) moved with his parents in 1816 to then Perry Co., Indiana, and spent most of his boyhood on Pigeon Creek between where John/Esther and William/Barbara had settled.
Served in Revolutionary War in the Virginia Militia. Grave stone shows "John Terry, Lambert's Co., 14th VA Regt., Revolutionary War".

Lived in Virginia, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Indiana. Botetourt Co. Militia
Rolls 31-8-1782, John Terry was in Capt. Neeley's Co. 13th District. After
war he and bro Miles migrated to Greene Co. TN. John Terry purchased 191
acres for 10 shillings., Deed Book 8 pg 257. 1815 he and Esther moved to
Perry Co. IN using pack horses, bringing with them 7 of their 14 children.
Will dated 5-June-1837 and pro 17-12-1842 leaves his wife Esther all the
estate and names her executrix. (He was also in Anderson Co. TN ca 1800-5)
He was a Revolutionary War Veteran and has a monument in Perry County, Indiana.
