William N. was born in 1866 in Nash Co., NC. William N.'s father was George W. Joyner and his mother was Zaney Ann Lindsey. His paternal grandparents were Nathan Thomas "THOMAS" Joyner and Amy Land. He had two brothers and three sisters, named Matthew H., Josiah J., Mary Ann, S. Anna and Susan A.. He was the oldest of the six children.-
