S. Anna was born in 1872 in Nash Co., NC. S. Anna's father was George W. Joyner and her mother was Zaney Ann Lindsey. Her paternal grandparents were Nathan Thomas "THOMAS" Joyner and Amy Land. She had three brothers and two sisters, named William N., Matthew H., Josiah J., Mary Ann and Susan A.. She was the third youngest of the six children.-
