Matilda (Maud) was born about 1114 in Copeland,Cumberland,England.  Matilda (Maud)'s father was William de Meschines Lord of Skripton-in-Craven and her mother was Cecily de Rumilly.  Her paternal grandparents were Ranulph III "De Briquessart" Meschines and Lucy , Countess of Chester Taillebois; her maternal grandparents were Robert de Rumilly and Muriel <Unknown>. She had a sister named Alice of.  She was the younger of the two children.  She died before 1190.
