Somerled was born in 0984 in of,,Orkney,Scotland.1   Somerled's father was Earl Sigurd II (The Stout) Hlodversson Of The Orkneys and his mother was Donada (Thora Donada) Mcalpin Of Scotland.  His paternal grandparents were Hlodver (Lodver) Thorfinnsson and Audna Ethne Edna Kjarvalssdoittir; his maternal grandparents were Malcolm II Mcalpin Of Scotland and Edith Sigurdsdoittir Of Ossory. He had three brothers and a sister, named The Black, Hlodvir Hundi, False Mouth and Ellen. He had two half-brothers and two half-sisters, named Brusi, MacBeth, Edith and daughter.  He died at the age of 31 in 1015 in of,,Orkney,Scotland.1
