Margaret was born about 1278 in Katzenelnbogen,Hessen-Nassau,Prussia.  Margaret's father was Eberhard I Count Of The Mark and her mother was Irmgard Princess of Berg.  Her paternal grandparents were Count Engelbert I of Mark and Kunigunde Von Blieskastel; her maternal grandparents were Duke Adolf VII of Limburg-Berg and Princess Margarete of Are-Hostaden. She had a brother and a sister, named Engelbert II and Kunigunde.  She was the oldest of the three children. She had three half-brothers and four half-sisters, named Bishop Adolf of, Count Konrad of, Count Engelbert II of, Princess Margareta of, Princess Irmgard of, Princess Katharina of and Princess Kunigunde of.

‌Margaret and Gerard were married in a religious ceremony on January 25th, 1299.1   They had two sons and two daughters, named Eberhard II, Johann II, Elisabeth and Margaret.
