His paternal grandparents were Siegfried Count of Luxembourg and Hedwig von Nordgau; his maternal grandparents were Herbert I von, Conde Gleiberg and Irmtrude (Irmengarde Imiza) Countess Avalgau. He had three brothers and seven sisters, named Friedrich I, Giselbert I, Compte De, Hermann I Von, Otgive de, Ermengarde de, Irmtrud, Imagi Of, Gisele, Jutta Von and Yvette de.
