Richard FitzGilbert was born in 1090 in Herford,England and his baptism took place in Of,Clare,Suffolk,England.  Richard FitzGilbert's father was Gilbert FitzRichard , 2nd Earl de Clare and his mother was Adeliza De Clermont.  His paternal grandparents were Richard Fitzgilbert 1St Earl De lare [Lord De Bienfai and Rohese Giffard; his maternal grandparents were Hugh I De Creil Clermont [Count Cleremont] and Margaret de Roucy. He had four brothers and four sisters, named Hervey , de Clare, Gilbert "Strongbow", John (The Marshal), Baldwin FitzGilbert , Lord Bourne, Alice, Margaret, Rohesia and Rose. He had a half-brother named Herve De.  He died at the age of 46 on April 15th, 1136 in Nearm Abergavenny,Monmouthshire,England.  He was buried in Gloucester,Glouc.,Eng.1

‌Richard FitzGilbert and Adeliz were married in a religious ceremony before 1116.  They had three sons and two daughters, named Gilbert, Roger "The Good", Richard Strongbow Fitzgilbert, Alice (Adeliza) de (Clare) and Rohese.
