Her paternal grandparents were Richard Fitzgilbert 1St Earl De lare [Lord De Bienfai and Rohese Giffard; her maternal grandparents were Hugh I De Creil Clermont [Count Cleremont] and Margaret de Roucy. She had five brothers and three sisters, named Richard FitzGilbert, Hervey , de Clare, Gilbert "Strongbow", John (The Marshal), Baldwin FitzGilbert , Lord Bourne, Margaret, Rohesia and Rose.
