Her paternal grandparents were Hugh De Baliol Lord of Barnard Castle and Cecily De La Fontaine; her maternal grandparents were Alan McDonald De Galloway Lord of Galloway and Margaret of Huntington. She had five brothers and six sisters, named Hugh De, Alexander De, John, Alan De, William De, Cecilia De, Eleanor De, Ada De, Euphemia De, Baliol and Margaret De.
