Ruth Gladys was born on February 8th, 1921 in Dixie, Escambia County, Alabama.1 Ruth Gladys' father was Samuel Jerome Wyrosdick and her mother was Myrtle Mae Douglas. Her maternal grandparents were John William Douglas and Margaret Mozelle McNeil. She had four brothers and four sisters, named Stacy Earl, William Everette, DeLeon Douglas, Samuel Jerome, Jr., Edna Mae, Carrie Lucille, Ruby Lee and Mozelle Catherine. She was the third youngest of the nine children.-
