Martha Matilda Stough

Martha Matilda was born on June 11th, 1840 in Upsom Co., GA.¹   Martha Matilda's father was Simeon Thomas Stough and her mother was Matilda Petrey.  Her maternal grandfather was William Petery. She had six brothers and four sisters, named Robert Washington, Michael Monroe, John B., Daniel Jackson, Simeon Calhoun, George Wesley, Susan Elizabeth, Sarah Ann, Adeline and Frances Jane.  She was the fifth youngest of the eleven children.  She died at the age of 80 on November 1st, 1920 in Crenshaw Co., AL.  She was buried in Rocky Mount Cemetery, Crenshaw Co., AL..^1 1 

‌Martha Matilda and George Washington were married in a religious ceremony on October 21st, 1854 in Lowndes Co, AL.¹   They had two sons and a daughter, named J. Frank, Thomas Jackson and Mary Anne.
