James E. Spradley 
James E. was born on November 4th, 1907 in Florala, Covington Co., AL.1 James E.'s father was Samuel Thomas Spradley and his mother was Annie E. Hughes. His paternal grandparents were Samuel Spradley and Martha Thrower. He had a sister named Myrtle. He was the younger of the two children. He died at the age of 93 on December 2nd, 2000 in Las Cruces, NM. He was buried in Woodbine Cemetery.1 1 General Notes

ARTESIA - A graveside service for James E. "Ed" Spradley, 93, of Las
Cruces, will be 11 a.m. today at Woodbine Cemetery with the Rev. J.B.
Craft officiating.
Mr. Spradley died Saturday, Dec. 2, 2000, at home. Terpening and Son
Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. James E. "Ed" Spradley was born
Nov. 4, 1907, to Samuel T. and Annie E. Hughes Spradley in Florala, Ala.
He married Bonnie Lee Thomas April 14, 1943, in Las Cruces. He moved to
Artesia in 1967 from Dallas and to Las Cruces in April. He was a retired
retail salesman for pharmaceutical companies. He was associated with the
Baptist denomination and was a freelance writer, artist and drummer for
Looney Tooners and played with the Over the Hill Gang. He was associated
with Science of Mind and Unity.
He was preceded in death by his wife on May 6, 1982;
a brother; and a sister. Survivors include daughters Caroline Ann
Spradley and Peggy Jackson of Artesia." Current-Argus, Carlsbad, NM
