Ella Odessa Smith 
Ella Odessa was born on January 22nd, 1895 in Lanier, AL.1 Ella Odessa's father was William H. Smith and her mother was Mary Ella Logan. Her paternal grandparents were Patrick, Jr. Smith and Mary N. Palmer; her maternal grandparents were James Alexander Logan and Carrie Angelina White. She had three brothers and four sisters, named Thomas Walter, James Cary, William Leonard, Mary Angie, Ida, Ola Catherine and Nancy Ruth. She was the second youngest of the eight children. She died at the age of 77 on January 6th, 1973 in Sylacauga , Talladega Co., AL. She was buried in Evergreen Cemetery.1 1 General Notes

Per her nephew, William Thurston Beasley, Dessie was a very sweet natured
person. She was about 5'6" to 5'7", plump. She worked at Avondale fabric
mill, and took in sewing after work. Her daughters, Christine, Eloise,
and Pauline, looked very much like their Beasley cousins, Ella V. and
Mary. According to the family, Dessie and her husband suffered difficult
financial times.
