Hampton was born on August 18th, 1909 in FL.1 Hampton's father was Stephen Abraham Rushing and his mother was Lula Idona Barfield. His paternal grandparents were Baron Dekalb Rushing and UNKNOWN Sirena. He had seven brothers and four sisters, named Lewis DeCalb, Coy Claxton, William Crockett, Alvan, Hoyte Dewell, Wilburn O., Napoleon Bonaparte, Beatrice, Ethel, Clyde M. and Clara A.. He was the sixth youngest of the twelve children. He died at the age of 81 on September 18th, 1990 in FL. He was buried in Plant City, FL.1 1 General Notes
