Her paternal grandparents were Baron Dekalb Rushing and UNKNOWN Sirena. She had eight brothers and three sisters, named Lewis DeCalb, Coy Claxton, William Crockett, Alvan, Hampton, Hoyte Dewell, Wilburn O., Napoleon Bonaparte, Beatrice, Ethel and Clara A..
