Arthur Sims was born on December 23rd, 1890 in Pike Co., AL.1 Arthur Sims' father was Burrel Washington Pugh and his mother was Elizabeth Wilks. His paternal grandparents were Willoughby Sims Pugh and Elizabeth Pheebe Rushing; his maternal grandparents were John Wilks and Mary Gulledge. He had six brothers and two sisters, named James Walter, William Carvin, John Cleveland, Robert Lee, Wiley Wilks, Horace Hood, Cleone and Anna Marie. He was the fourth youngest of the nine children.
