Velma W. was born on February 4th, 1922 in Holt, Okalosa County, Florida.1 Velma W.'s father was Arthur Noah Kelley and her mother was Agnes Cutts. Her paternal grandparents were John Shorter Kelley and Lucy Ann Gavin; her maternal grandparents were Thomas Jefferson Cutts and Nancy Holt. She had five brothers and three sisters, named Carey Elmo, Olin Aubrey, Arthur Desmond, Delma Vernon, John Fentress, Ethel Agnes, Thelma Alene and Bessie Eunice. She was the second youngest of the nine children.-
