William Franklin Darden 
William Franklin was born on May 8th, 1874 in Coosa Co., AL.1 William Franklin's father was William Stephen Darden and his mother was Sarah Mitchell Carlisle. His paternal grandparents were Uriah Addison Darden and Mary Logan; his maternal grandparents were John Bunyan Carlisle and Nancy Craddock. He had six brothers and two sisters, named Archie Hendrix, Ocie Glive, Dotson, Grady, John W., Robert, Sarah Lavinia and Annie Belle. He died at the age of 80 on June 22nd, 1954 in Coosa Co., AL. "W. F. Darden was a leader in the Weogufka community life. He was for
many years chairman of the Board of Education of Coosa County, and
contributed much to the life of his community."(1).

"NEW COUNTY OFFICERS
The new county officers to begin new terms on January 16th are: J. C.
Matthews, Sheriff; Milton Harris, Chief Deputy Sheriff; H. T. Jacobs and

members of the County Board of Education. L. D. Crew, present sheriff,
will assume the duties of jailer on that date, it is said.
Already Sheriff elect Matthews and Deputy Harris have moved to
