William Henry Castellaw 
William Henry was born on November 10th, 1819 in Washington Co., GA.1 William Henry's father was James G. Castellaw and his mother was Sarah Arnold. His paternal grandparents were William Henry Castellaw and Rhody Brewer. He had two brothers and three sisters, named George Washington, Andrew Jackson, Nancy, Mary Ann and Martha Jane. He was the second oldest of the six children. He died at the age of 60 on May 1st, 1880 in Hallettsville, Lavaca Co., TX. He was buried in Mt. BIOGRAPHY: The family was in Henry County, Georgia on August 28, 1850
when W. H. is listed as a silversmith.
BIOGRAPHY: Records from the journal of Dr. Samuel B. Dickinson
writtenduring 1851 and 1852 show William purchased a roan mare for$30.00
and had Dr. Sam treat Colquit in early 1852 for anillness. Colquit would
have been about 5 years old.
BIOGRAPHY: The grave site of William was located in 1994 by Nan Strode
Drozd, a great granddaughter of William H. Castellow's sister, Martha
Jane "Dolly" Castellow Garner, in what is called The Mount Olive
Cemetery, southwest of Mount, Lavaca County, Texas. Dates of birth and
death are shown on the badly broken gravestone. Located near William H.
Castellow is the grave stone of his younger brother, Francis M. Castellow.
