Mary Polly was born about 1785 in ?.1 Mary Polly's father was John H. Buckner and her mother was Mary M. Brown. Her paternal grandparents were John Buckner and Sarah Buckner; her maternal grandfather was John Brown. She had six brothers and a sister, named William M., Joel, John, Jr., Wiley W., Richmond Monroe, Benjamin and Elizabeth. She was the third youngest of the eight children.
