James Eppes Bridges 
James Eppes was born on April 9th, 1880 in Coosa Co., AL.1 James Eppes' father was Alvin Lafayette Bridges and his mother was Mary Virginia Wilson. His paternal grandparents were William Bridges and Delila Jane Jacks; his maternal grandparents were James Wilson and Martha R. Davis. He had four brothers and two sisters, named John Cary, Evie Davis, Sr., Leonard Anderson, Thomas Lafayette, Leila D. and Allie Relender. He was the oldest of the seven children. He died at the age of 45 in 1925 in Union Parish, LA. He was buried in Mt. Nebo Methodist Church Cemetery, north of Downsville, Union Parish, LA.1 1 General Notes

James was a blacksmith and a farmer. While living in Union Parish, Ada
Wilson would rent land to James to farm. He grew many types of food,
especially ribbon cane. As a blacksmith in Union Parish he fixed wagons
and shoed horses as well as mules. He charged $2.00 to shoe a mule. The
above information was told to me, Ron Bridges, by his son Alvin K.
Bridges on 14 Jun 1998 via phone.

Epps Bridges of Downsville, La., is visiting his father A. L. Bridges and
other relatives this week. Mr. Bridges has been in Louisiana for several
years and thinks that part of country is on par with any other part of
