Joseph Howard was born on December 28th, 1923 in AL.1 Joseph Howard's father was Charles Thomas Anderton and his mother was Betty Gertha Lee Ledbetter. His paternal grandparents were James P. Anderton and Sarah Ann Davis; his maternal grandparents were Daniel Littleberry Woodville Ledbetter and Mary Elizabeth Kirkland. He had four brothers and five sisters, named Everett, Earn, Edward, Billy, Ethel N., Lila Dee, Vera Mae, Lula Maude and Living. He had two half-brothers and four half-sisters, named Thomas A., Toney M., Zula, Lola B., Bessy and Daisy. He died at the age of 69 on November 23rd, 1993 in AL. Is the below the same Howard?
Ron: I found out Saturday night at the ballgame that Howard Anderton is
buried at Logan Baptist cemetery in Cullman Co., AL. I spoke with his
grandson, but he didn't know much because he didn't live close to his
grandfather and I got the impression that he didn't know much about the
family. The boy is 18 years old though and isn't particularly interested
in family history.
I will try to get you the information on the birth and death date of
Howard and will try to find out about any other Anderton's that are
buried there (if any).
My best suggestion is to call the number I gave you for Dean
Anderton. This is Howard's son.
For some reason, over the years, I got the impression that Howard's
family wasn't from Cullman Co. as Logan was a very small community where
everyone knew everyone else and knew their families. I never remember
anyone talking about Howard's mother and father.
I will also try to get you the number for Gertrude, Howard's fist wife
who lives in Ohio. As I mentioned before they remained friends through
out life. Gertrude is fighting cancer at the time , but I am sure she
would still love to hear from you. And since she is Howard's first wife
she would know who Howard's parents were.
All this may take some time but be assured that I haven't forgotten
you. And as soon as I find out this information I will be sending it to
you.

His father homesteaded 160 acres in John R. Hollow at one end of
Honeycomb Valley. His mother's family homesteaded a big piece of the
land near the White Elephant at the other end of that valley.
Joseph Howard Anderton grew up in Honeycomb and lived in that area
until he moved to Guntersville. He lived at 734 Ringold Street, Martin
Manor. He died in the B&A Hospital Tuesday after 10 years of failing
health. He was 69. He had had diabetes over 30 years.
He was night supervisor at the Master Mix granary. After he retired
there he worded at odd jobs as long as he was able. He attended the
Guntersville Church of God. His parents were Charlie and Lou Ledbetter
Anderton.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and dancing.
He is survived by 3 sons, Robert Howard Anderton of Honeycomb, Dwight
Anderton of Scant City and Christopher Howard Anderton in the Army; 5
daughters, Paulett Moore of Guntersville, Deborah League of Buck Island,
Beverly
