Harriett Buford 
Harriett was born on December 1st, 1801 in Bedford Co., VA.1 Harriett's father was William Henry, Jr. Buford and her mother was Jane D. Sherman. She had a brother and two sisters, named Duncastle Sherman, Mildred M. and Julia Ann. She was the oldest of the four children. Harriet's parents settled in the Big Cove area of Madison County around
1816. Both of her grandfathers were involved in the Revolution: Captain
Henry Buford, Sr. and Henry Duke Sherman who donated supplies in New Kent
County, Virginia. One source has her first name as Mary.
‌Harriett and Daniel A. were married in a religious ceremony on May 19th, 1818 in Madison Co., Mississippie Terr..1 They had six sons and three daughters, named Pascal E., John H., Albert Devotie, William M. M., Reuben Bonburant, Daniel Littleberry Woodville, Sarah Hannah, Elizabeth C. and Susan Mildred.
