Joanna was born in of London, Middlesex, England.  Joanna's father was John Lackland Plantagenet King of England and her mother was Agatha de Ferrers.  Her paternal grandparents were Henry II Plantagenet de Anjou King of England and Eleanor de Aquitaine Dss de Aquitaine. She had eleven half-brothers and five half-sisters, named Oliver, Richard FitzJohn of Dover, Richard, Geoffrey, Sir John FitzJohn, Odo (Eudo), Ivo, Henry, Henry III Plantagenet, Richard of Cornwall, Osbert, Isabella, Joan, Isabella, Eleanor and Matilda.  She died in Aberconwy, Arllechwedd Uchaf, Caernarvonshire, Wales.


Joanna's first family with Llywelyn Fawr ap Iorwerth Prince of Wales

‌Joanna and Llywelyn Fawr ap Iorwerth were married in a religious ceremony in 1205 in St. Werburgh Benedictine Abbey, Chester, Chestershire.  They had two sons and three daughters, named Tegwared-y-Bais Wen, Dafydd ap Llywelyn Fawr, Angharad, Elen (Helena) and Marared Drwyndon.


Joanna's second family with William "Black Will" de Braose Lord Brecknock

‌Joanna and William "Black Will" de Braose were married in a religious ceremony about October 1228.
