William de Valence , Earl of Pembroke 
William de was born after 1225 in Pembroke, Pembrokeshire, England. William de's father was Hugh X de Lusignan , Count Angouleme\La Marche and his mother was Isabella Taillefer de Angouleme. His paternal grandparents were Hugh IX de Lusignan , Comte de la Marche and Mathilde (Mahaut) Taillefer de Angouleme; his maternal grandparents were Aymer (Adhemar) Taillefer de Angouleme and Alice de Courtenay. He had a brother and a sister, named Hugh XI de and Alice de. He had two half-brothers and two half-sisters, named Henry III Plantagenet King of, Richard, Joan and Eleanor. He died before May 18th, 1296 in Slain in battle in France.General Notes

Earldom of Pemborke: Nevertheless Henry III's half-brother William de Valence, who married a niece of these last five [all sons of William Marshal, who died dspl] Earls of Pembroke, is sometimes referred to by contemporary sources as Earl of Pembroke. His Aspirations in that direction were promoted by the fact that Henry III had presented him with Pembroke Castle. In addition de Valence's widow Joan by dint of usage, plus inheritance of the feudal Lordship of Pembroke, came to be known as Countess of Pembroke. And their son, Aymer de Valence, who was no more formally created Earl of Pembroke than his father had been, was nevertheless coming to be generally recognized as Earl of Pembroke by some ten years after his father's death.
