Johannes Shurts (Shurtz) 
Johannes was born in 1714 in Hackensack Bergen Co. NJ and his baptism took place there on October 30th, 1714. Johannes' father was Michael Shurts (Shurtz) and his mother was Maria Elizabetha Stiernen (Steir). His paternal grandparents were Michael Shurts (Shurtz) and Catherina; his maternal grandparents were Jost George Stier and Anna Margit Slaeygel. He had three brothers and three sisters, named Johannes, Abraham, George, Antie, Eve and Margrite. He was the third oldest of the seven children. He died at the age of 74 in 1788 in Readington Twp. Hunterdon Co. NJ.-
