Joan was born on September 29th, 1328 in Woodstock Palace, Oxfordshire, England.  Joan's father was Edmund Plantagenet , 1st Earl of Kent and her mother was Margaret Wake , Baroness Wake.  Her paternal grandparents were Edward I Plantagenet "Longshanks" King O England and Marguerite Princess of France; her maternal grandparents were John 1st Baron Wake , Sir Knight and Joan FitzBernard.  She was an only child.  She died at the age of 56 on August 8th, 1385 in Wallingford Castle, Berkshire, England.

‌Joan and Thomas de were married in a religious ceremony before 1339.  They had two sons named Thomas de and John de.
