Giselbert I was born in 1005.  Giselbert I's father was Count Frederick I OF LUXEMBURG and his mother was Countess Ermentrude VON GLEIBERG Irmtrud.  His paternal grandparents were Count Siegfried IV Of Luxemburg DE CLEVES DE ALSACE and Edith DE LONGWY Hedwig; his maternal grandparents were Count Heribert Of Gleiberg & Kinziggau OF WETTERAU and Irmenrtrude VON AVALGAU. He had a brother and four sisters, named Frederic II Of Lorraine, Ermentrude, Otgive, Giselle and Jutta.  He was the third youngest of the six children.
