Maud was born about 1190 in Of, Pembroke, Pembrokeshire, Wales and her baptism took place in September 1201.  Maud's father was William MARSHALL 4th Earl PEMBROKE and her mother was Isabel de CLARE COUNTESS OF PEMB.  Her paternal grandparents were John "the Marshall" FITZGILBERT and Sibyl de SALISBURY; her maternal grandparents were Richard Fitzgilbert de CLARE Earl of Pembroke, Strongbow" and Eva (Aoife) macmurogh kavanagh. She had five brothers and five sisters, named Walter, William, Richard, Gilbert, Anselm, Margaret, Joan, Isabel, Sibyl and Eve.  She was the second oldest of the eleven children.  She died on March 27th, 1248.  She was buried in Tintern Abbey, Chapel Hill, Monmouthshire, England.
