Alfonso X the Wise was born on November 23rd, 1221 in Toledo. Alfonso X the Wise's father was St. Ferdinand III King of Castile & LeUn and his mother was Beatrice (Elizabeth) Hohenstaufen of Swabia. His paternal grandparents were Alphonso IX the Slobberer de LeUn King of LeUn and Berengaria Alfonsez Queen of Castile; his maternal grandparents were Philip II Hohenstaufen of Holy Roman Emp and Irini Maria Angelina of Byzantium. He had two brothers named Felipe de Castile and Juan Emanuel de Castile. He had four half-brothers and a half-sister, named Fernando de Castile, Luis de Castile, Juan de Castile, Simon and Eleanora de Castile. He died at the age of 63 in 1284 in Seville, Spain.General Notes
