William Longespee of was born in 1176 in Woodstock Manor.  William Longespee of's father was Henry II Plantagenet de Anjou King of England and his mother was Ida (of England).  His paternal grandparents were Geoffrey V Plantagenet [COUNT OF ANJOU] and Empress of England Matilda. He had eleven half-brothers and five half-sisters, named William Plantagenet, Richard I Coeur de Lion, Geoffrey, Philip, John Lackland Plantagenet, Henry the Young King, Morgan, Richard, Hugh of Wells, Peter, Geoffrey Plantagenet, Matilda (Maud), Eleanor, Joan, Matilda and daughter.  He died in Amesbury, Wiltshire, England.

‌William Longespee of and Ela FitzPatrick were married in a religious ceremony in 1198 in Salisbury, Wiltshire, England.  They had four sons and seven daughters, named Sir William LongespEe II, Richard, Stephen LongespEe, Nicholas LongespEe, Isabel, Petronilla, Ela, Ela, Idonea, Ida and Lora.
