Jane was born in 1390 in Hoveringham, Nottinghampshire, England. Jane's father was Robert De Goushill and her mother was Elizabeth FitzAlan. Her paternal grandfather was Nicholas De Goushill; her maternal grandparents were Richard Fitz Alan XI Earl of Arundel and Elizabeth De Bohun. She had a sister named Elizabeth. She was the older of the two children. She had two half-brothers and three half-sisters, named Thomas De Mowbray Duke of, John De Mowbray Duke of, Margaret, Elizabeth and Isabel. She died at the age of 75 in 1465.General Notes
Joan or Joanna Goushill married Thomas Stanley. The name Joan is called Joanna in Latin. In the 32nd year of Queen Elizabeth, 1590, it was agreed that names Joan and Jane were to be all one name in the Court of the King's Bench. As a result, her name appears in records as Joan, Joanna and Jane.
