Cecily was born about 1174 in Arundel Castle, Sussex, England. Cecily's father was Earl of Arundel William IV D'Aubigny Earl of Arundel and her mother was Maud (Matilda) De Saint Hillary. Her paternal grandmother was Adelicia Princess of Brabant; her maternal grandparents were James De Saint Hillary and Aveline De Hesding. She had two brothers and a sister, named Ralph, William V and Avice (Agnes). She was the second youngest of the four children. She had two half-brothers and three half-sisters, named Richard, Roger, Elena, Mabel FitzPatrick and Eveline (Aveline).-
