Phillippa was born about 1370 in Essendine, Rutland, England. Phillippa's father was Edward DESPENCER BARON DESPENSER and her mother was Elizabeth De BURGHERSH BARONESS DESPENSER. Her paternal grandparents were Edward DESPENCER and Anne FERRERS; her maternal grandparents were Bartholomew BURGHERSH Baron Burghersh and Cicely De WEYLAND BARONESS BURGHERSH. She had four brothers and four sisters, named Edward, Phillip, Hugh Le, Thomas Le, Cicely, Anne, Margaret and Elizabeth. She was the second youngest of the nine children.-
